Vighnaraja , a Carnatic classical Vocalist started his early tutelage when he was 5 years old under his thapasvi father and later when he was 14 had a short stint of 2 years of training from Vid Sri D N Subramanya Bhat, one of his father’s disciples. and again continued his training from his father himself.

Vighnaraja,in addition to his regular practice, under the guidance of his father adopted an unique method of sadhana for a period of 96 days i.e.,two mandalas of 48 days,from Jan to April 2005 practicing Simhendramadhyama raga observing total mounam.Earlier he had completed one mandala each for raga Thodi and Mayamalavagoula.

Vighnaraja is gifted with a beautiful voice which can produce brilliant and effortless akaaraas, bhirkas and gamakas and also known for his speed variations with perfect clarity of diction.

He has given number of concerts in both vocal and flute in many parts of India and also abroad namely Australia, Singapore, Malaysia , Newzealand ,Taiwan, USA.

He has always been accompanied by artists of great repute namely Sri Mannargudi Eshwaran, Sri Patri Satish Kumar , Sri K V Prasad , Sri Trichy Harikumar , Sri Arjun Kumar, Sri J Vaidyanathan Sri Neyveli Venkatesh, sri S Varadarajan, Dr Jyothsna Srikanth, kum, Akkarai Subbulakshmi ,Sri H K Venkatram, Sri H K Narasimha murthy, Sri Mysore V Srikanth , Sri H N Bhaskar, Sri A V Anand , Sri Anoor Ananthakrishna sharma  and many others.

Vighnaraja is a self taught flautist  and a self taught slide guitarist.
