Veena, trained in Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam has been conducting art festival during Ramanavmi Festival for the last 25 years. She has choreographed ballets on society relevant modern themes. She has conducted Workshops and given lecture demonstrations in USA .

Veena is running a dance school since 20 years and has started a foundation – AIM (Artistes Introspective Movement) – training for diplomas in music and dance. A member of SAARC Cultural Committee, Bangalore (1982), Veena takes active part in NGOs working for development of art and awareness of art

First solo performance at age of  nine

Though not hailing from a dancer’s family, Veena started learning dance at the age of six. “My father encouraged me to take up dancing. My Rangapravesha was at the age of nine years, which was a two-and-a-half hour solo performance in Bharatanatyam. At 11 years of age, I gave a solo debut in Kathak and at 14 years, Kuchipudi solo performance,” said Veena.

Thereafter, she specialised in Kuchipudi and by 16 years of age, Veena was a professional Kuchipudi artiste. By 25, Veena became a noted dancer in Bangalore as there were a very few Kuchipudi artistes here. She has performed to packed houses both in India and abroad.
